Dev Karan Singh (Aamir Khan) is a flirt coming back to India on a cruiser ship when he meets Priya Verma (Manisha Koerala). Dev tried a lot but is not able to impress Priya. So Dev make a friendship with Priya. Meanwhile Dev flirts with other girl but eventualy Priya falls in love with Dev and they make a promise to meet each other at Gateway of India at 14 Feb. Ater 6 months Dev refuses to mary Anjali (Dipti Bhatnagar) daughter of a billionaire. Priya is also engaged to Raj (Anil Kapoor) but she manage to come out of that relationship. Dev have a lot of debt so he losses all his money but to get all back he starts painting. When the due date come Dev reach but Priya get accident and losses her leg in that accident. Now further story advance, an how they meet again and accept the truth..
